Antón Gómez López receives the «Alejo Pacín Jul special award».

On Friday afternoon, 20th September, the 17th edition of the Prize for the best open source university project, organised by the Consorcio CIXUG in collaboration with the Agencia para la Modernización Tecnológica de Galicia (AMTEGA) and the GPUL association, took place in the GaiásTech of the Ciudad de la Cultura..

A total of 5 applications reached this final phase, and were evaluated by the jury through their different presentations in which aspects were taken into account such as the correct licensing of the works, as well as the use of their own methodology that especially characterises open works.

The first prize was won by Alejandro Buján Pampín with the project «Abordando o desenvolvemento de Liñas de Produtos Software dende unha perspectiva de Xestión de Ciclo de Vida das Aplicacións», which describes a first attempt to face the challenge of accelerating the time-to-market of software, while maintaining quality and the efficient management of continuous changes. This work was carried out using an interactive and incremental methodology, using MongoDB as data warehouse, as well as Node.js and Express.js for the web server implementation and Vue.js for the web client.

This recognition carries a financial endowment of 1.500 euros, which is provided by the CIXUG within the framework of the collaboration agreement signed with AMTEGA.

On the other hand, the «Premio Especial Alejo Pacín Jul» was awarded to Antón Gómez López for his work «Adaptación efectiva de redes xerativas antagónicas para o procesado de imaxes de teledetección multidimensionais». This second prize has an economic endowment of 750 euros, provided by the association GPUL, collaborating entity of this initiative and also framed in the collaboration agreement signed with AMTEGA.

Prize for the best University Project with an open source licence

The CIXUG announces this award within the activities included in the collaboration agreement with AMTEGA, which aims to improve the mechanisms of training and dissemination of open source software in the Galician university ecosystem.

GPUL's collaboration is also part of the activities carried out within the framework of the collaboration agreement signed with Amtega for the promotion of free software in Galicia.
