CIXUG and Unión Profesional join forces to promote young talent in Galicia
On 30 April 2025, Unión Profesional de Galicia held a meeting with Consorcio Interuniversitario de Galicia (CIXUG) at the association's headquarters in Santiago de Compostela, with the aim of furthering collaboration within the Xuventude Mentoring programme. The meeting was attended by the president of Unión Profesional de Galicia, José María Suárez, the general secretary, Patricia Vérez, and the manager of CIXUG, Manuel Mosquera Viso. They were also accompanied by the coordinator of the association representing 44 professional associations, José Ricardo Fernández Insua..
O Xuventude Mentoring, which Unión Profesional de Galicia joined in early 2025 as a collaborating entity, is a comprehensive training and mentoring programme aimed at young people who are qualified and registered with the National Youth Guarantee System in the Autonomous Community of Galicia. This is a pioneering programme promoted by the Consellería de Cultura, Lingua e Xuventude of the Xunta de Galicia and the CIXUG, in collaboration with the three Galician universities, and co-financed by the European Social Fund, Youth Employment Operational Programme..
During the meeting, the programme's progress was analysed and new actions were proposed to increase the involvement of professional associations. The manager of CIXUG took the opportunity to congratulate Unión Profesional de Galicia for joining the Xuventude Mentoring programme and thanked the 44 professional associations that make up the association for their support of the project. He also highlighted the value of incorporating professional associations covering a wide range of professionals with experience in fields such as health, engineering, scientific and technical professions, architecture, the social sector, economics and law. For his part, the president of Unión Profesional de Galicia welcomed the association's incorporation and expressed his willingness to promote opportunities for interaction and training for young graduates.
The secretary general of Unión Profesional de Galicia, Patricia Vérez, who is responsible for coordinating the collaboration agreement with CIXUG, pointed out that Unión Profesional de Galicia is involved in advising, assisting and guiding young people with the aim of guiding them in their future careers and also in entrepreneurship.
The programme, which is based on the ongoing support of a mentor and direct links with the Galician business community, continues to establish itself as a key initiative for improving the employability of young Galicians. Thanks, in large part, to the altruistic involvement of professionals and associations, such as Unión Profesional de Galicia, which provide participants with personalised support and access to real experiences in the business world.
