Descrición

AQUAD is a qualitative data analysis programme developed by Günter L. Huber in 1987. It is designed to aid research in areas such as psychology, education and sociology, allowing you to work with text, images, video and audio.

The software is available under the GNU GPL v3 licence, so it can be downloaded and used for free. The latest version, AQUAD 8, offers advanced tools such as coding, annotation, text search and Boolean analysis. In addition, it has specialised modules for different types of data, facilitating the work of researchers. Key features include:

  • Data encoding: Allows codes to be assigned to text, audio, video and image segments to facilitate analysis.
  • Text search: Offers the possibility to search for keywords within the analysed documents.
  • Annotations: Allows comments and notes to be added to the data to improve contextualisation.
  • Analysis tables: Facilitates the organisation and visualisation of data in structured formats.
  • Case comparison: Uses Boolean analysis to identify patterns and relationships between different data sets.
  • Data export: Enables export to quantitative analysis programmes such as R, SPSS and PSPP.

Competencias a desenvolver

  1. Understand the basics of qualitative research
  2. Become familiar with AQUAD software for qualitative data analysis
  3. Prepare and structure data for analysis
  4. Analyse and interpret qualitative data
  5. Export data to other programmes for further analysis

Metodoloxía

Each of the topics consists of a theoretical part, with documentation and explanatory videos, and a practical part, with the resolution of evaluable exercises. In addition, the platform measures the connection time of each participant, a criterion to be taken into account for the final evaluation.

The platform also has a messaging system and forums where you can contact the trainer to ask any questions you may have.
