Descrición

Turnitin is an internet plagiarism prevention service created by iParadigms, LLC, first launched in 1997. It checks for potential unoriginal content by comparing papers submitted to various databases using a proprietary algorithm. It scans its own databases, and also has licensing agreements with large personal academic databases. Turnitin can help to ensure final quality and originality, as well as identify weaknesses in the text.

In the academic field, Turnitin is a tool that allows teachers to check students' work, helping to detect incorrect citations or possible plagiarism. This software will allow them to know the degree of similarity in the documents produced by the students, serving as a guide for them to take responsibility for their work and cite appropriately.

Competencias a desenvolver

At the end of the course, the student will be able to:

  • Create an account
  • Create a class
  • Create an exercise
  • Upload documents for plagiarism analysis
  • Quickly upload documents
  • Navigate and understand the similarities found in the document to be analysed
  • Delete documents

Metodoloxía

The training will be delivered in a face-to-face, live session format, where attendees will learn in a practical way everything they need to successfully complete the whole procedure involved in plagiarism analysis of a document with the Turnitin tool.

Attendees will be supported at all times by the teacher, as well as by the CIXUG team, who will help them throughout the process. In addition, they will have physical guides that explain in detail all the processes to be carried out.
